NASA is seeking a contractor to develop, integrate and operate a commercial segment on the International Space Station as part of the agency’s Next Space Technologies for Exploration Partnerships 2 program.
A request for proposals issued Friday on FedBizOpps says the agency plans to enter into a public-private partnership to open a docking port on the ISS Node 2 module for the the development of commercial products and services in low-Earth orbit.
A selected contractor will aim to deploy a habitable system to the space station and transition the program to a commercial human spaceflight enterprise where NASA can be a customer.
The agency plans to issue multiple single-award contracts under NextSTEP-2 Appendix I and to begin installing new modules on the ISS by September 2024.
A pre-proposal virtual conference is scheduled to take place on Thursday. Interested parties can submit responses to NASA through Aug. 5.
