Bath Iron Works, a General Dynamics subsidiary, has received a $61M modification to an existing contract for lead yard services, including engineering and logistics, in support of Arleigh Burke-class destroyers.
Under the modification, the contractor will continue to provide engineering services, materials support, logistics management, detail design development, baseline updates and other technical work required to construct and test ships, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The company may also provide technical and management services to contribute to the DoD’s feasibility studies about the possibility of enhancing the naval vessels for the purpose of selling them to foreign military agencies.
Work on the DDG 51 destroyers will take place in Bath and Brunswick, Maine, through June 2020.
The Navy will finance initial work with $58.3M in fiscal 2015 through 2017 funds designated for shipbuilding activities. The modification amends an existing $305M contract that Bath Iron Works received in June 2018.
