Northrop Grumman develops gallium nitride and other semiconductor materials for integration with radars, sensors and other electronic warfare systems to support warfighters as they operate in the multidomain battlespace.
The company said Wednesday it produces GaN and other semiconductors through its advanced technology laboratory, which runs as a Pentagon trusted foundry and has delivered over 8M components used to support missions across maritime, space and other domains.
“What we have learned from our work with our cutting-edge Advanced Technology Laboratory is that developing advanced devices is just the beginning,†said Nicholas Paraskevopoulos, vice president of emerging capabilities development and chief technology officer at Northrop’s mission systems business.
“Ensuring that the device performance will meet or exceed our customer’s expectations once integrated into a complex military system, under challenging real-world conditions, is where our technical team’s expertise makes the difference. This is systems thinking in action,†he added.
Northrop also works on other microelectronics such as the GaN-based Super Lattice Castellated Field Effect Transistor and the silicon germanium technology.
