Boeing has awarded Harris a contract to help develop a mission management processor technology for the U.S. Navy's future MQ-25 Stingray unmanned tanker.
Harris said Monday it will work with Boeing's AvionX organization to create the open systems processor to support communication and sensor functions on the carrier-based aerial refueling drone.
Dave Bujold, a Boeing program director, said the MQ-25 will work to extend the range of Navy carrier air wing.
The Navy ordered four MQ-25s under an $805M engineering and manufacturing development contract awarded in August 2018 and expects the platform to reach initial operational capability by 2024.
