The Department of Homeland Security has awarded $10M in contracts to 10 companies to build prototypes of technologies demonstrated in the first phase of the agency’s Small Business Innovation Research program.Â
Each contractor will receive up to $1M to develop the technologies under Phase II SBIR managed by the DHS Science and Technology Directorate, the agency said Thursday.Â
DHS completed the first phase of the program in November 2018.Â
The selected projects for phase II will focus on the areas of sensors, maritime and remote search and rescue, communications, radio frequency and internet of things technologies.Â
