United Technologies Corp.'s Collins Aerospace business has been selected to manufacture components for the life support platform of the Crew Space Transportation-100 Starliner spacecraft Boeing is building through NASA's Commercial Crew Program.
Collins Aerospace said Monday it will support development of the Environmental Control and Life Support Subsystem, which will initially fly on CST-100 as part of space taxi's uncrewed flight test.
ECLSS is intended to provide an Earth-like environment for Starliner passengers and will feature thermal control, air revitalization and pressure control systems.
Boeing designed Starliner to ferry astronauts to and from the International Space Station. NASA expects the spacecraft to conduct its first crewed flight later this year.
