BAE Systems' land and armaments business has received a $70.7M contract to deliver updated and overhauled Mk 45 Mod 4 naval gun mounts and related components to the U.S. Navy.
The Navy also ordered Mk 63 Mod 1 weather shields, Mod 4 manufacture and machine parts kits from the contract through the firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
Mk 45 is a five-inch gun designed to fire at surface and airborne threats. The gun is mounted on ships of the service branch's Arleigh Burke and Ticonderoga classes.
Contract work will take place in Louisville, Ky., through July 2023.
