Mitre selected a winner during a competition that challenged participating teams to develop platforms and methods to mitigate irregular government payments.
Team SAP was chosen as the winner of the Next Gen Approaches to Strengthening Payment Integrity event and received $50K for its Citizen Wallet concept, a tool that allows users to create accounts and upload their government profile information, the company said Wednesday.
The firm also awarded challenge finalists Team Proper Bobcats, Team SAS and Team Converus with $5K each.
“We congratulate all of the participants and look forward to seeing how their recommendations advance the goal of eliminating waste, fraud and abuse in government payments,” said Jay Schnitzer, chief technology officer at Mitre.
Mitre held the challenge to support the government’s efforts to use new approaches in preventing improper payments. The event also featured discussions on payment integrity topics from the company, the Office of Management and Budget and interagency organizations.
