The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has announced the research areas where the agency wants to partner with small businesses in 2019 under the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs, Nextgov reported Monday.
DARPA said the SBIR and STTR programs will focus on artificial intelligence, autonomous technologies, communications, cyber, directed energy, hypersonics, microelectronics, quantum sciences, space and nuclear modernization.
Each program will fund small businesses from concept technologies to development and deployment.
SBIR and STTR will have two phases that will grant more than $251K for feasibility efforts and another $1.6M for technology development.
Selected companies can also join the DARPA Accelerator program, designed to help small businesses partner with industry and government advisers and to secure investors.
Interested parties can submit proposals for both SBIR and STTR through Feb. 29, 2020.
