Carlos Aguayo, a 35-year shipbuilding industry veteran, has been promoted to succeed Daniel Flood as general manager of Huntington Ingalls Industries' shipyard business in San Diego.
Aguayo will oversee the facility's overall operations that encompasses production, quality, customer relations, resource management, human capital development, process improvement, finance and accounting functions, HIIÂ said Monday.
He started his career in 1989 as a leadman of a production department at the shipyard, formerly called Continental Maritime of San Diego.
“Carlos has excelled for 15 years in senior leadership positions in business management, finance and contracts, which serves as a fitting segue into his new role as general manager of the HII San Diego Shipyard," said Andy Green, president of technical solutions at HII.
Aguayo holds both a bachelor’s degree in legal studies and a master’s degree in management from National University.
