Battelle wants to hire over 200 temporary field technicians to support the next phase of its National Ecological Observatory Network project with the National Science Foundation.

The temporary field technicians will perform ecological sampling and collection work with full-time researchers in 81 locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, Battelle said Tuesday.

The position requires the collection of flora, fauna, water and air samples in a wide range of environments through field-based sampling or airborne remote sensing tools and instrumented towers.

Battelle noted that field technicians usually conduct sampling and collection from May to September.

Chris Baird, domain field operations manager for the NEON program, said college students and recent college graduates from related environmental sciences fields are encouraged to apply.

NEON is a program handled by Battelle that was launched in 2018 to collect ecological data across the U.S. for 30 years in an effort to study changes in the nation’s ecosystems.
