Woolpert has received a contract to provide airfield planning and conceptual design services for a Department of Defense program that aims to help U.S. air forces, regional partners and allies establish operational presence in Eastern Europe.
The company said Thursday it will collaborate with Louis Berger as a subconsultant and help design military airfield structures throughout the region.
Rebecca Knolle, project manager at Woolpert, said the company previously completed conceptual studies for aircraft tarmac, live ordinance load areas, ammunition storage, parallel runways and cargo pads.
Knolle added that airfield modernization projects aim to facilitate military exercises, training, prepositioning and capacity building operations.
