The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity has issued a request for information on potential form factor approaches to develop portable electronic cooling systems for mobile devices such as a smartphone.
In a FebBizOpps notice posted Friday, IARPA said it wants a technology designed to protect the mobile device from internal heat and high temperature.
Interested firms have until Jan. 14 to submit responses to the RFI notice.
The agency noted that smartphones have the potential to function as distributed and mobile sensing network components.
IARPA currently develops compact sensor platforms to detect chemicals on the surface and in the gas phase through the SILMARILS and MAEGLIN programs.
