Leonardo DRS has manufactured and delivered to General Electric a gas turbine package built for an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer of the U.S. Navy.
The GE-designed LM2500 platform is intended for installation on the USS Louis H. Wilson Jr. (DDG 126), Leonardo DRS said Monday.
Jamie McMullin, senior director of naval power systems group at Leonardo DRS, said the delivery aims to demonstrate the company’s partnership with GE in the development of military platforms.
The LM2500 gas turbine went through a series of production acceptance tests at GE’s Evendale, Ohio-based facility prior to its completion and delivery to General Dynamics‘Â Bath Iron Works subsidiary.
