The Transportation Department has issued a request for information on potential industry sources of technology platforms that can work to integrate, analyze and visualize safety-related data on multimodal surface transportation.
DOT said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Wednesday it will collect public comments in an effort to determine whether and how to advance data systems and analysis the department needs to manage transport safety policy and decision making processes based on data.
The Office of the Secretary of Transportation aims to help policymakers obtain insights from data, integrate current DOT databases with industry data sources and leverage analytic methods to determine and address safety risks.
The department noted its information technology systems are distributed across data centers and cloud computing environments hosted by Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.
DOT will host a webinar for interested vendors on Nov. 15 and will accept responses to the RFI notice through Dec. 7.
