Rockwell Collins to Supply Flight Mgmt Tech for Navy, Marine Aircraft Platforms

Rockwell Collins has received a contract of an undisclosed value to equip multiple U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aircraft platforms with Mission Flight Management Software.

The company said Thursday it will provide MFMS and Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance Calculator applications in an effort to help the service branches comply with required navigation performance and area navigation standards.

MFMS is an open architecture software that employs navigation, flight plan management, and guidance tools built to integrate with various mission systems.

Heather Robertson, a senior director at Rockwell Collins, said the technology works to help pilots comply with civil flight procedures when they operate aircraft over locations where communication, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management rules are observed.

The Navy has used company-built aviation instruments on the P-3C, C-2A, E-2C and VH-60N platforms.
