ViON and Nutanix teamed up to present a hyperconverged infrastructure-based platform at the five-day ESRI User Conference that kicked off in San Diego on Monday.
ViON said Tuesday the HCI-based Enterprise Cloud platform from Nutanix is backed by ViON’s data center-as-a-service financial model and is designed to help users of geographic information systems manage image files.
“By partnering with Nutanix, we are able to support the most demanding environments with next-generation technology to ensure optimal performance of GIS desktops – all in a flexible as-a-service model,†said Tom Frana, ViON CEO and chairman.
Frana, a two-time Wash100 recipient, added that ViON’s as-a-service model seeks to help organizations improve the performance and scalability of GIS desktops and servers “regardless of GIS user community growth.â€
Enterprise Cloud features Nvidia’s GRID graphic processing units that support several GPU video cards through a single server block and works to leverage hyperconverged architecture and data locality capabilities to meet end users’ needs.
