Paul Damphousse, senior director of business development at SES‘ government solutions subsidiary, has joined the commercial space transportation advisory committee of the Federal Aviation Administration.
Elaine Chao, secretary of the Transportation Department, appointed Damphousse as COMSTAC’s senior industry representative and member to provide counsel to the government, SES said Wednesday.
Damphousse said he will update the U.S. government on the commercial space sector’s new consensus on standards and regulations for activities such as in-orbit platform servicing, satellite payload hosting and space traffic management.
He established and led General Astronautics as CEO before he joined SES.
His 22-year career with the U.S. Marine Corps includes time as an officer for space operations and as a combat pilot.
Damphousse is among nine new members who will join 17 re-appointees on COMSTAC to provide commercial space industry insights and recommendations to the FAA administrator.
SES Government Solutions offers end-to-end satellite services and counsel to clients in the federal and public sectors.
