Virginia Governor Ralph Northam announced that an agreement between the Virginia Information Technologies Agency and Science Applications International Corp. will generate 40 information technology jobs in Clinton, Dickenson County.
“These jobs will be key to helping the Commonwealth modernize its technology infrastructure and support the changing IT needs of our citizens, businesses and visitors,” Northam said in a statement published Friday.
He added that the VITA-SAIC partnership will provide services needed for Virginia’s daily government operations.
The 40 job vacancies are part of a potential nine-year, $272 million contract that SAIC received in 2017, directing the McLean, Va.-based firm to build an IT service center for the state’s technology infrastructure modernization program.
“The local officials and economic development leadership in Dickenson County were a huge reason we decided to locate our service desk in Clintwood,” SAIC Chief Operating Officer Nazzic Keene said.
