Booz Allen Hamilton has established a public charity that aims to help address social challenges and strengthen community resilience with the use of technology.
The company said Wednesday pledged an initial $5 million to support the Booz Allen Foundation’s mission across its primary focus areas of public health, military veteran services, youth and education.
“Establishing an independent foundation to complement our ongoing corporate philanthropy is a great way to widen the circle and apply smart minds and advanced technology to build more resilient communities,” said Horacio Rozanski, Booz Allen president and CEO.
The organization will also support the charitable activities of the company’s employees and consider potential opportunities to provide disaster recovery assistance.
Booz Allen Foundation received Internal Revenue Service approval last year and donated $129,000 to the American Red Cross’ disaster relief missions.
The company will provide details of its plans for the public charity and future grants after the selection of an executive director to lead the foundation.
