Kratos Defense and Security Solutions has received State Department approval to market a second tactical unmanned aerial system in select countries within North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
The department initially cleared Kratos’ Mako UAS for the European and APAC markets, the company said Wednesday.
Eric DeMarco, president and CEO of Kratos, said the company has invested $85 million to develop a UAS suite and owns the intellectual property and associated data package for its products.
The firm’s tactical UAS offerings are designed to operate alongside manned platforms in complex missions and carry various weapons and sensor systems.
Steve Fendley, president of the unmanned systems division at Kratos, said that the company’s technology uses launch and recovery methods that do not require runways.
