Maxar Technologies‘ MDA business has secured contracts worth $12.4 million combined from multiple government and commercial clients for the provision of information and services related to the RADARSAT-2 Earth observation satellite.
RADARSAT-2 SAR is designed to collect imagery for organizations to locate and measure various objects within very large areas, MDAÂ said Monday.
The first contract extends the provision of satellite data to EarthSTAR, a company that monitors land and detect geophysical changes, through 2024.
MDA will continue to provide data in support of the European maritime safety agency’s various missions and help the Canada’s defense department manage RADARSAT-2 ground terminals for the Polar Epsilon Near Real-Time Ship Detection system under two separate contracts.
The company added it will deliver satellite-based information to multiple oil and gas firms through a fourth contract.
