Space Dynamics Laboratory has been awarded a potential 26-month, $8.1 million contract to produce engineering test and flight units for an optical spectometer being developed at NASA‘s Goddard Space Flight Center.
NASA said Saturday that SDL will design, develop, fabricate, assemble, test and deliver the test and flight articles of the Ocean Color Instrument Short Wave Infra-Red Aft Optics Box.
OCI will work to measure spectral radiances, from ultraviolet to shortwave infrared, that exits the top of the atmosphere.
The scientific instrument is designed for integration into NASA’s Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, Ocean Ecosystem observatory.
SDL operates as a nonprofit unit of the Utah State University Research Foundation and works with military, science and private organizations to help them address technical challenges.
