A mobile application created by Vencore‘s research arm has been included on the National Security Agency‘s list of approved commercial products designed to manage and secure classified data.
Vencore Labs‘ SecureIO app is designed to help agencies install Android apps on mobile devices that are configured for use under NSA’s Commercial Solutions for Classified program, the company said Tuesday.
The CSfC program lets agencies deploy commercial products in specific configurations to protect classified information.
Vencore President and CEO Mac Curtis said that Vencore Labs’ secure communications technology is employed by government customers to aid critical missions.
CSfC devices are usually limited to the use of apps that are approved by the National Information Assurance Partnership for delivering transport layer security encryption.
SecureIO will work to bring existing Android apps to agencies’ end-user devices without the need to obtain NIAP certification for those applications, Vencore noted.
