L3 Micreo, a subsidiary of L3 Technologies, has developed a new wideband radio frequency technology designed to support military communications.
The modular optical link is built to operate in frequencies ranging from 10 megahertz to 40 gigahertz and transmit converted broadband RF signals through a fibre-optic link, L3 Micreo said Tuesday.
Sarah Eary, general manager at L3 Micreo, said the business developed its optical link in a push to help warfighters communicate over long distances.
The company showcased the new technology at the Military Communications and Information Systems 2017 event that took place from Nov. 14 to 16 in Canberra, Australia.
