Maxar Technologies‘ DigitalGlobe subsidiary has signed a multiyear agreement with Orbital Insight to expand the scope of their current data partnership and offer geospatial analytic services to customers.
Orbital Insight will serve as DigitalGlobe’s Geospatial Big Data technology partner and will have access to the latter’s imagery archive, DigitalGlobe said Oct. 31.
Dan Jablonsky, president of DigitalGlobe, said the partnership aims to help customers understand industry trends and patterns based on geospatial data from around the world.
Orbital Insight plans to use the GBDX platform in efforts to refine harvest yield estimates; increase retail prediction accuracy; assess societal and economic statuses of large regions; and monitor natural resource markets.
DigitalGlobe noted its archive contains time-lapse images collected over the past 17 years.
