A Saudi Arabia-based joint venture between Boeing, Alsalam Aircraft and Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries will offer maintenance, repair and overhaul support for the country’s fleet of rotorcraft aircraft, Defense News reported Tuesday.
Neil Bevan, CEO of the Saudi Rotorcraft Support Company, said work under the contract will cover support for Apache aircraft at the company’s rotorcraft maintenance facility in Riyadh over the next two years.
“The repairs will involve a full strip down of the aircraft and a structural assessment of every component …Â Then, it will go one way or another: Either we repair the aircraft and put it back into flight or we will recover the components and put it under a remanufacturing program to support a new aircraft.”
The report noted that the contract is also likely to include MRO work on a fleet of 20 Super Puma helicopters.
Rotorcraft units support various branches of the Saudi Arabian armed forces including the land force, air force, navy, ministry of interior and ministry of national guard.
The Saudi Rotorcraft Support Company offer maintenance and maintenance support, depot overhaul and repair, program and supply chain management as well as pilot and maintenance training services for rotorcraft operators in Saudi Arabia.
