BAE Systems‘ Australian subsidiary is conducting a roadshow to encourage university students to pursue careers in defense industry.
The company said Wednesday it aims to create up to 1,000 positions for graduates and apprentices if BAE Systems Australia wins the contract to build SEA 5000 Future Frigates for the Royal Australian Navy.
The SEA 5000 program could open new employment opportunities for project managers, designers and engineers along with apprenticeships related to technical, mechanical and electrical trades, the company added.
“We’re undertaking the roadshow now because it an ideal time of the year to engage with students who are considering career opportunities after graduation,” said BAE Systems CEO Glynn Phillips.
Phillips added the company has worked with multiple universities in efforts to inform students of defense career options.
BAE’s roadshow covers orientation about working for the company, consultation on career development opportunities, presentation of available and future job opportunities, introduction of work registration process and briefing with university alumni.
