Lockheed Martin has secured a two-year, $12.9 million contract from the U.S. Army to design, develop and test system prototypes for a combined-arms squad.
The Defense Department said Thursday Lockheed will perform contract work as part of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency‘s Squad X Experimentation program.
Squad X aims to build portable, integrated technologies that would help dismounted infantry squads operate in the physical, electromagnetic and cyber domains.
Work will occur in Grand Prairie, Texas; Rome, New York; Menlo Park, California; Woburn, Massachusetts; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Cherry Hill, New Jersey through Aug. 14, 2019.
The Army Contracting Command will obligate 7.5 million at the time of award from the service branch’s fiscal 2016 and 2017 research, development, test and evaluation funds.
