ViaSat has received a one-year, $9.9 million contract from the Defense Information Systems Agency to provide engineering services for the Blue Force Tracker-2 program.
The Defense Department said Friday contract work will include out-of-warranty repairs, satellite ground stations and satellite network control center maintenance, software assurance and Tier 4 to 6 help desk support.
BFT-2 is designed to transmit location updates in real-time and provide instant messaging, and internet protocol-based networking capacity for U.S. Army and Marine Corps personnel with mobile air and ground platforms.
ViaSat will perform work at a company facility through Jan. 19, 2018.
DISA will use appropriate fiscal year operations and maintenance and “other” procurement funds from the Army to finance work on the sole-source contract.
