Geospatial analytics and software company Orbital Insight has secured $50 million in a Series C funding round led by investment firm Sequoia Capital.
Orbital Insight said Tuesday the latest investment round brings the company’s total funds raised to $78.7 million and supports its plans to expand analytics technology offerings.
The company also looks to broaden its global strategic partnerships and sales presence in the international market.
Bill Coughran, a partner at Sequoia and a member of Orbital Insight’s board of directors, said the latter company aims to make geospatial data actionable amid the proliferation of drones and satellites that generate large amounts of geospatial imagery.
Envision Ventures, Balyasny Asset Management, Geodesic Capital, ITOCHU, Intellectus Partners, GV, Lux Capital and CME Ventures participated in the funding round.
