Mitre Named General Steward of Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency - top government contractors - best government contracting eventMitre has entered into an agreement with The Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency to serve as a general steward in the development of the nonprofit network’s guiding principles, global agenda and work streams.

The company said Thursday it will also supply strategic advice, establish working groups and provide expertise and financial support to the GIFT Action Network as it works to facilitate public-private collaboration to advance fiscal transparency.

“Mitre’s interest in GIFT stems from our public interest mission and [belief] that fiscal stability is a global issue, not just a domestic one,” said Jim Cook, a vice president at Mitre and director of the Mitre-operated Center for Enterprise Modernization.

“Our sponsor, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and other key government stakeholders, such as the Office of Management and Budget and Government Accountability Office, share a common interest in helping to advance fiscal transparency, public accountability, and integrity worldwide.”

GIFT Network Director Juan Pablo Guerrero added that Mitre will help drive partnerships with government agencies as a steward.

The organization has worked with 75 countries around the world to provide technical guidance, peer-to-peer learning and research that support the goal of fiscal transparency.
