The Defense Logistics Agency has awarded a potential $71.1 million contract to Enersys Energy Products and a separate $47.4 million contract to Exide Technologies to supply the U.S. Army with storage batteries.
Each indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract contains three base years and two one-year options, the Defense Department said Friday.
Both contracts’ base period will run through March 16, 2020, and work will occur at the contractors’ facilities in Missouri and Georgia.
DoD said storage battery purchases will be funded with fiscal 2017 through 2020 defense working capital funds.
Enersys Energy manufactures battery accessories, chargers and enclosure products for aerospace, defense, industrial vehicles, leisure, material handling, medical, rail, renewable energy and standby power applications.
Exide Technologies produces stored electrical energy systems including batteries and other associated equipment and services used for the transportation and industrial markets.
