Steven Bratt, former chief technology officer and president of standards development president at the GS1 nonprofit organization, has joined Ensco‘s board of directors.
He brings his international business and technology leadership experience to the science and engineering services contractor as a board member, Ensco said Thursday.
“[Bratt’s] stimulating insights in a wide range of technology areas and experience in international business engagements will bring a valuable element to our Board as we continue to expand Ensco’s business,” said Greg Young, chairman of Ensco’s board.
Bratt established the World Wide Web Foundation with Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the world wide web, and served as CEO of the World Wide Web Consortium.
At W3c, Bratt led a global team in the creation of technical standards used to make the internet work.
He previously managed programs at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency as well as served as assistant vice president at the Science Applications International Corp. and coordinator of the International Data Center at the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization in Vienna, Austria.
