The Department of Veterans Affairs has forged a five-year alliance with Flow Health to develop a medical knowledge graph that will incorporate deep learning to aid medical decision-making and train artificial intelligence systems on how to personalize care plans.
The VA-Flow Health partnership aims to understand common elements that impact a person’s susceptibility to diseases as well as pinpoint specific treatments and identify possible side effects of such procedures, the company said Tuesday.
“Our mission is to advance healthcare by applying the latest artificial intelligence techniques to improve the detection, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases,” said Flow Health CEO Alex Meshkin.
“Through our partnership with the VA, Flow Health is working to unleash the power of AI to benefit our nation’s veterans.”
The company added that the agreement will cover the integration of large volumes of data that will support efforts to study genome and phenotype variants, identify disease risks, make diagnoses and create individualized treatments.
