Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has received a one-year, $9.6 million order to design, develop, analyze, integrate and test software for the U.S. Navy‘s MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft system.
The Defense Department said Monday that Northrop will support the vehicle management software correction of deficiencies and integration of configuration updates into the MQ-4C under the cost-plus-fixed-fee order.
DoD added the company will analyze and design concepts to integrate Automatic Response Module based on the drone’s implementation of the Airborne Collision Avoidance System Xu.
Work will occur in Rancho Bernardo, California through December 2017 and the obligated amount of $2.5 million at the time of award is from the Navy’s fiscal 2017 research, development, test and evaluation funds.
The order comes two months after Northrop secured $350 million in contract funds to provide MQ-4C Triton unmanned aerial vehicles, control stations and interim spares to the military branch.
