The Defense Commissary Agency has partnered with grocery distributor and retailer SpartanNash in an initiative to bring private-label products to U.S. military commissaries around the world.
SpartanNash said Thursday it will support the implementation of the program and help drive future growth.
The company added it will work closely with DeCA to launch the program, which agency executives hope will increase patronage at the commissaries.
“Many of our active duty and veterans are on a limited income, and their military benefit provides savings which are key to meeting their families’ food and household needs,” said Dennis Eidson, SpartanNash CEO and chairman of the board.
He added the partnership will work to deliver additional food options to military families.
