Windstream has finished the construction of customized network platforms at six military and government installations for the Defense Information Systems Agency.
The network platforms include fiber builds that are designed to support DISA’s combat support mission and its efforts to expand its Defense Department information network, Windstream said Tuesday.
The systems were installed at Sheppard Air Force Base, Naval Air Station Albany, McGhee Tyson Airfield, Naval Station Great Lakes, Kellogg Air National Guard Air Field and Defense Logistics Agency-Battle Creek.
Bradley Kilbey, vice president and general manager of federal markets at Windstream, said the company develops fiber networks to help address customers’ requirements and prepare them for software-defined networking, network functions virtualization and 400G services.
Windstream aims to expand its local metro fiber, fixed wireless and long-haul networks across the U.S.
