A broadband satellite Space Systems Loral designed and built for Hughes Network Systems has arrived at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida ahead of a scheduled launch in December.
Hughes said Monday its EchoStar XIX satellite will launch next month aboard United Launch Alliance‘s Atlas V rocket.
EchoStar XIX will join Hughes’ EchoStar XVII and SPACEWAY 3 satellites currently in orbit to help increase the capacity of HughesNet satellite internet service across North America.
The new satellite is designed to support the HughesNet service for consumers and small businesses that receive little or no service from terrestrial broadband internet services, Hughes noted.
SSL built EchoStar XIX based on the SSL 1300 platform to serve as a multi-spot beam Ka-band satellite.
