Parsons has secured a contract from the Indiana Department of Transportation and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to provide environmental review and preliminary design services for an Interstate 69 bridge construction project.
The company said Tuesday it will assess the feasibility and environmental impact of various routes for the I‑69 Ohio River Crossing project that will link the Robert D. Orr Highway near Evansville, Indiana and the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway near Henderson, Kentucky.
Parsons added contract work will occur through 2019.
INDOT and KYTC also look to extend I‑69 by 48 miles in Indiana and by 53 miles in Kentucky as part of efforts to expand and modernize the interstate highway.
Indiana has opened a 27-mile highway between Bloomington and Naval Support Area Crane while Kentucky assigned nearly 44 miles of the Pennyrile Parkway in Henderson, Hopkins and Webster counties as I‑69.
