The U.S. Navy has ordered $1.6 million in computer rugged servers from Themis Computer via the company’s reseller Strictly Technology LLC, Military & Aerospace Electronics reported Wednesday.
John Keller writes the order covers four Themis RES-XR5 1U standard-density rack mounted servers along with shock-mounting kits, cabling, optical transceivers, Gigabit Ethernet switches, disk-on-module data storage and auxiliary items.
The Naval Sea Systems Command will use the items to design, develop and maintain ships and shipboard systems for the Navy, according to the report.
The Themis rack mounted servers feature Intel Xeon processors with up to 20 cores per socket and 1 terabyte of memory, Keller reports.
