Augustus Leon Collins, CEO of Mississippi-based government contractor Minact, has joined Huntington Ingalls Industries‘ board of directors.
HII said Tuesday Collins brings to the board 35 years of previous experience in the U.S. Army and the Mississippi National Guard.
“[Collins’] proven leadership, long and distinguished service to our country as an Army officer, combined with his business experience and deep understanding of the Gulf Coast region, make him a great fit for the HII board,” said HII board chairman Thomas Fargo.
Collins served as commanding general of the Mississippi Army and Air National Guard prior to his retirement in August.
He previously commanded the 155th Brigade Combat Team of the Mississippi National Guard, where he led security operations in Iraq’s southern and western provinces.
Collins retired from the Army in 2007 and was nominated to serve as labor representative on Mississippi’s Worker’s Compensation Commission.
Minact currently supports the Labor Department‘s Job Corps program in various states.
