LAC Federal has received a contract of an undisclosed value to help the Commerce Department align catalog records and reflect the physical holdings of the Commerce Research Library.
The company said Monday it will conduct shelf-reading of the library’s collection, identify items in need of conservation and compare each item to the electronic catalog record and Online Computer Library Center record in order to unify the physical collections.
The Commerce Research Library contains various resources and provides research services intended to help employees execute the department’s mission.
The department consolidated its business and trade and law and legislative collections into the Commerce Research Library following discovery of differences between records on the local integrated library system and the OCLC.
LAC Federal’s work under the contract aims to display correct call numbers within the library’s physical collection and maintain clean records for items in the library’s ILS.
