The Defense Department and Lockheed Martin have developed cost-tracking software related to the procurement of F-35 lot 3 aircraft through the FlexFile program, DoD News reported Wednesday.
Jim Garamone writes DoD’s cost assessment and program evaluation office developed the FlexFile program in an effort to help DoD estimators facilitate collection of data from contractors and evaluate contract costs for large defense acquisition programs.
DoD’s CAPE office introduced the program during a briefing Tuesday at the Pentagon in Virginia.
Steve Miller, director of the advanced systems cost analysis division at CAPE office, said the implementation of the FlexFile program has helped reduce the time spent by contractors on the preparation of cost-tracking reports and address issues related to manual verification of data.
Jamie Morin, director of DoD’s CAPE office, said the department plans to expand the use of FlexFile to other weapon systems programs and contractors, according to the report.
