Deloitte plans to expand the professional services firm’s U.S. Technology Delivery Center in Orlando, Florida and hire additional software development, system analysis and information technology workers as part of the expansion initiative, the Orlando Economic Development Commission reported Thursday.
Laureen Martinez writes Deloitte has partnered with the City of Lake Mary, CareerSource Central Florida and the Orlando Economic Development Commission to carry out the project that could bring 850 more jobs and $24 million in new capital investment to the state’s Seminole County.
“The strength of the region – including a thriving international community and well-respected educational institutions – providing access to skilled, tech savvy workers – confirms our original choice for this location and makes expansion an easy call,” said Bert Naquin, a Deloitte managing director and director of its U.S. Technology Delivery Center.
“Deloitte joins companies of similar distinction who have in recent years located their workforce and capital to Seminole County,” said John Horan, Seminole County chairman.
Deloitte also seeks to collaborate with higher education institutions such as the University of Central Florida and Seminole State College to create programs that will encourage students to pursue technology-related careers.
