CAE has unveiled a new image generator at which uses commercial-off-the-shelf graphics processors to help create interoperable synthetic environments.
The company said Monday CAE Medallion-6000XR was developed with the help of Open Geospatial Consortium CDB standards and builds on the family of image generators and visual systems designed for the military market.
Montreal-based CAE displayed the platform at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference military simulation and training event.
“Importantly, we are developing our technologies such as the Medallion-6000XR to fully support and utilize the OGC CDB standard, which will facilitate interoperability and better enable integrated mission training,” said Marc St. Hilaire, CAE chief technology officer.
Medallion-6000XR was also designed to offer update image quality and scene density, three-dimensional ocean, wakes and ocean-to-shore simulation, particle-based recirculation and downwash effects, scene densities for runways, support for animated 3D grass and tree effects.
