The U.S. Army wants information on potential technical tools and cost or schedule drivers for the modernization of a platform that works to help the Defense Department train cyber mission forces in emulated network environments.
The service branch said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Monday that previous analysis on the Persistent Cyber Training Environment platform revealed gaps in event planning and management, training assessment, training environment restoration and automated opposition force.
The Army envisions the future PCTE would feature realistic scenarios as part of individual and collective training; event scheduling, management and execution; standardized training assessment; and a live joint opposing force to simulate threats and vulnerabilities.
Interested parties can submit white papers for the program through Nov. 16.
Responses to the event management portion of the PCTE initiative should address distributed event creation, scheduling, allocation and management functions for event design, planning and execution, replay and archiving.
The Army said the program’s environment and resource management category seeks oversight of a closed cyber exercise network as well as cloud access to the full suite of DoD- and service-distributed exercise resources and training environments.
DoD’s joint PCTE will be designed to employ interoperable common training systems and to facilitate individual, team, unit, group and force training, exercises and mission rehearsals if it reaches maturity, the Army added.
