Inmarsat has entered into a partnership with Beijing Marine Communication & Navigation Company and Aviation Data Communication Corp. to provide aviation safety and cockpit communication services in China.
MCN and ADCC will offer Inmarsat’s Classic Aero voice and data safety service and SwiftBroadband-Safety cockpit and aircraft operations connectivity platform under the memorandum of understanding signed during ATC Global 2016, Inmarsat said Wednesday.
The partnership is set to be finalized by the end of the year in line with MCN and Inmarsat’s plans to establish a joint venture to supply aircraft cabin and connectivity services in China.
“Our partnerships with MCN and ADCC… reinforce Inmarsat’s commitment to supporting China’s One Belt One Road strategic vision,” said Otto Gergye, vice president of airline market development at Inmarsat’s aviation subsidiary.
He added that the country’s aviation market has at least a five-percent annual growth rate with both in-service aircraft and passenger levels predicted to double in the next two decades.
ADCC VP Zhu Yanbo said the partnership will work to provide the latest safety communication platforms to China to help the growth of its aviation industry.
ADCC is a joint venture between the air traffic management bureau within China’s civil aviation administration and various Chinese airlines.
