B-w globeTetra Tech has been awarded a spot on a $49 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to provide technical geospatial services for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s coastal management program.

The company said Tuesday it will collect, analyze and process geospatial data with the use of airborne and bathymetric lidar, satellite imagery and video and acoustic systems in an effort to help NOAA address sea level rise, coastal resiliency, sustainable land use and marine planning challenges.

Tetra Tech will also perform software application development, data analytics and data integration and modeling to help NOAA develop ecological, social and economic services to minimize rising sea levels and climate change on coastal areas.

“Through the application of advanced software and GIS technologies we will support OCM’s mission to effectively manage and protect our coastal resources,” said Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech’s chairman and CEO.

The company is one of five contractors that will support the Digital Coast initiative of NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management under the five-year contract.

Work will occur in U.S. coastal states, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands.
