Intel is continuing its push establish a presence in the unmanned aerial systems market through the development of obstacle avoidance technology and advisory roles of the company’s leaders in the UAS community, UAS Magazine reported Monday.
Luke Geiver writes the company has integrated and tested its RealSense sensor package to measure its capacity to provide common drones with autonomous flight, obstacle avoidance and “follow-me” features.
The report noted Intel CEO Brian Kraznich has also participated in the Federal Aviation Administration’s MircoARC committee for UAS to lead an FAA mission launched to integrate small unmanned aerial vehicles into a “vision of the future.”
Kraznich told UAS Magazine Intel aims to showcase the Drone 100 in stadiums and raise the number of drones flying in unison from hundreds to thousands and more in support of its efforts to play a role in the unmanned market.
